Wiggin, Kate Douglas. The Birds’ Christmas Carol, 1886

The Frontispiece of the book.

The Birds’ Christmas Carol was originally privately printed in 1886, but was  published two years later in 1888. The story is one of selfless Christmas love portrayed through the actions of a saint-like child who wants nothing but the happiness of others on Christmas. Kate Douglas Wiggin was a children’s book author as well as a kindergarten teacher, and this story reflects the childlike simplicities typical of her work, reflected well in the lovely illustrations done by Katherine R. Wireman.
